“Utopia Square” demonstrates utopias as a driving force of social change, presenting actual projects by visionaries from Graz.
They already exist, visionary approaches to the future, and they already exist in Graz: “Utopia Square” explores utopias as a driving force of social change with the aid of concrete visions drafted by residents of Graz. Based on the UN’s “17 Sustainable Development Goals 2015–2030”, the project involves citizens of all seventeen districts of the city.
“Utopia Square” consists of three parts: the research part sets out to find sixteen visionaries in Graz. Their stories and thoughts form the basis for part two: all in all, sixteen cross-genre pop-up performances will occupy public spaces for a few minutes, coming together in a final seventeenth total performance at a central location.
In part three, in addition to the performances, an online platform will be developed that showcases information and narratives in digital form, documenting the artistic work and helping to network everyone interested.
