Can citizens win back the future by repairing their city? Can places be transformed and upcycled on a lasting basis? City walks and a conference provide the answers.
The project begins with city walks to neuralgic points in Graz. The respective hosts select the route and diagnostics of the city walks from their own perspective (including different generations, people with handicaps, architecture and public space, art, biology, history, sociology and social economy).
Together with the participants in the walks, the aim is to make suggestions for repairing urban space. These city walks form the founding themes for a city repair conference in November.
“garbage.city.death” creatively applies the approach and methods of repair to specific socioeconomic and ecological spheres, for example public space, the atmosphere, food or clothing. The project is part of the “future-repair-machine” which is taking place in Graz, Berlin, Munich, Budapest, Eindhoven, Brussels and London in 2020 and 2021, culminating in a joint action in Brussels in 2022. The aim is to repair the EU with artistic means.
