“Häfntheater” brings realities of life of prison inmates at the Graz-Karlau prison onto the stage.
Access to culture is a crucial precondition for mutual understanding for every individual.
In this context, art is often a vehicle for coming to terms with one’s own experiences and practising social behaviour in the group that is inherently important for the success of social life as a whole.
In the “Häfntheater” project, ten to fifteen inmates of the Graz-Karlau prison will engage in theatre education work to explore topics that affect the inmates’ individual realities of life and perform their findings on stage.
There will be a show of works at the prison at the end of December 2020. It is planned to hold further rehearsals and performances in 2021. The whole project will be documented on film.
